Registration Process

Registration Process

Why Use RADb?

The Routing Assets Database (RADb) is an essential tool for network operators, ISPs, and other organizations to publish their routing policies and maintain consistency across the global internet routing infrastructure.

Registering with RADb allows you to document your routing policies in a standardized format, enabling better coordination between Autonomous Systems (AS) and ensuring reliable routing.

What Do You Need to Register?

To start using RADb, you must submit three key types of database records:

  1. Maintainer Object:

    • This object must be registered first before any AS or Route objects can be added.

    • A single Maintainer object can be used for multiple AS and Route objects, but some organizations prefer one Maintainer per AS for administrative separation.

  2. AS Object:

    • Represents an Autonomous System and its routing policies.

  3. Route Object:

    • Defines the IP prefix and the AS responsible for advertising that route.

How to Register an Account

To register with RADb, follow these steps:

  1. Visit the RADb registration page: RADb Registration

Post-Registration Process

  1. Registration Embargo:

    • After registration, your account will be partially active.

    • You will have full access to your account except for adding new objects.

    • To gain full functionality, including the ability to add objects, you must pay your initial invoice.

    • This step is in place for security reasons to prevent misuse or unauthorized registrations.

  2. Payment Methods:

    • Credit Card: Recommended for quick processing.

    • Check, ACH, or Wire Transfer: May take 2-6 weeks to process and reflect on the account.

    • Important: Payments must be successfully processed before you can start adding new routing objects.

Why is Payment Necessary?

  • Payment verification ensures that only legitimate and authorized users can register routing information.

  • The security-first approach minimizes risks associated with malicious or unauthorized object creation.

  • Making the first payment by credit card expedites access since traditional methods take significantly longer.

Why Choose RADb?

Using RADb helps you:

  • Maintain a centralized and authoritative record of your routing policies.

  • Improve routing consistency and transparency within the global internet community.

  • Facilitate easier coordination with peers and upstream providers.

  • Enhance your network's credibility and stability by adhering to standardized routing practices.

By following the registration process and ensuring payment, you will gain full access to the RADb system, allowing you to manage your routing information effectively and securely. Why RADb?

You'll need to submit three types of database records to the RADb: one or more Maintainer objects, an AS object, and one or more Route objects.

A Maintainer object will need to be registered before you can register any AS or Route objects.

Maintainer Objects Needed

A single Maintainer object can be used for all your AS objects and Route objects, although some providers prefer to register one Maintainer object per AS managed.
