Background Processes
Activation Time of RADb Updates
Updates to the Routing Assets Database (RADb) take effect immediately upon submission. These changes are instantly reflected when performing queries to whois.radb.net, ensuring that the most recent routing information is always accessible.
Update Propagation:
The RADb Query Tool will reflect the changes shortly after they are made.
Updates are also copied to the Merit FTP area every two hours throughout the day, making the data accessible via FTP.
Mirroring Process:
The RADb data is mirrored across approximately 18 registries, ensuring consistent access to the most up-to-date routing information. The mirroring process utilizes the Near Real Time Mirroring (NRTM) protocol.
Mirror Polling Timeline:
Each registry is polled for updates every 5 minutes.
This frequent polling ensures that the mirrored data is synchronized with the latest changes from the RADb, minimizing discrepancies between the central database and mirrored instances.
By maintaining a rapid update cycle and leveraging NRTM for synchronization, the RADb ensures that routing data remains accurate and promptly available to users and mirrored databases alike.
